I believe the 'standard' method of non-contact signal transfer is by using
inductive coupling to transfer power to the measurement circuit and signal
back.

INteresting concept.  I would suspect it would require
very high sample rates, and also would require some
type of slip-ring to get the signals from the gauges
out.  The problem with slip-rings is that they can
be very noisy for a low-signal data acq. situation.

Good ones could be pricy...
