Nice question, I was thinking the same thing with a "cross ram" type configuration and two plenums with velocity stacks extending into the plenum (like a motorcycle air box)...The angle of the cross ram (in a V8) would allow a pretty straight shot at the valve and would let the system lay down a little for clearance.  The only thing I was thinking is that as the plenum is essentially a damper placing the throttle bodies at the entrance to the plenum may yield bad throttle response. Not a problem for the motorcycle bunch as they are individual runner-individual throttle body designs. So maybe you would run individual throttle bodies in or outside of the box and a plenum jr. for MAP readings.  And relegate the plenum to a cold/ram air box.  I never thought about a tuned reflector.
