Knock sensing and retarding ignition

I would like to interface to the stock ignition control module for a few
reasons.

1.  It has automatic dwell control.
2.  I will be able to keep all of the stock wiring, and easily be able to
take out the ignition retard controller.
3.  It gives me a sort of level of protection from any inductive kick from
the coil (whether it really protects my circuit or not, I don't know, but
it makes me feel better)
