I might be able to help. It's been a few years, but my firm did a
diesel / CNG conversion, which would be similar to a propane conversion.
If I remember correctly, diesel was limited to something like 15 to 20%
of its flow by modifying the diesel pump mechanism (either by a flow
restriction or modification of the main lever). Then propane was mixed
with intake air through a venture (this was a carbureted system). The
objective was to minimize percent of diesel fuel used, but it was still
needed as a catalyst to start the ignition.
Don't know if my recollection is detailed enough. but if I can answer
any questions, I'll be happy to try.
