[Diy_efi] GM EFI on Aircooled 2L engine

I am new to this list but have been reading for
months (years??) and appreciate the vast ammounts
of info that can be gained from this place!

To my question: I have posted this in the GM ECU
mailing list and just about got chased off! :)
Comments like "Are you crazy?!? A 2L Turbo in a
Bug" are not that helpfull, but are INSPIRING! :)

My goal: Fit a GM 1227730 ECU to a VW 2L Type 4
engine (same as 914) using a T03-T4 sized turbo.

I have the '730 from a '89 Z24 Cavalier Code AKDM
(not in incoming directy, will be once I read the
PROM), a IMI EPROM-1 Eprom programmer, complete
wiring harness (from the same car), and a Ford TB
(new) from a 2.5L engine.

I would like to either make a VSS work on this
car, or Disable it. Before you tell me NOT to
disable, hear me out; I DO NOT need TCC, EGR, or
anything else for that matter. There are 2
companies I know of called Turbo City, and
CBPerformace that build 'Turbo Kit's that use a
GM ECU, and don't use the VSS. I can disable
Malf codes, and remap it for this engine. Has
anyone actually disabled it (Trail blazers of the
EFI world!!)?? I am building a ECM test bench as
we speak. I plan to 'dyno tune' the motor using
an old tranny and pretty much a 'load device' of
some type (can we say Jam a 2X4 in there :) As
you can see, this will be a LOW bugget setup.
mostly to show it can be done, and give solutions
to fellow VW fans. Thank you for any help you
can provide! I will share and findings I have if
anyone is interested...
-Bobby
