[Diy_efi] Maintenance Downtime

Hello All,

As I'm sure all of you noticed, we had an outage over the
weekend. In tracing what went wrong (rather than patching it
up to work, which is what I did Monday), I've discovered
that the problem will reoccur periodically unless I upgrade
some of the server software (the mail server software
itself). The problem, as it turns out, is the version of
exim (the mail server) I was running was hard-coded to
output some debugging logs, and if those logs grow beyond a
certain size, exim dies with little or no warning. There are
a few fixes for that, but the right one is to install the
latest version of exim (which has some other improvements).
Unfortunately, the new version of exim (4.x vs 3.x) uses
different config files, so I'll need to re-write some of the
rules used to make the mailing lists work.

I'm planning on doing that tomorrow.

There will be a few outages throughout the day as I go about
it. I'll keep them brief, and with luck most of you will not
notice anything at all, but if you see a bit of a glitch...
you know why.

-Jon
