[Diy_efi] New member question on PC integration

Hello,

My name is Sharif Khan and I am a senior at Macalester College majoring in 
CS.  I read your member pages on diy-efi and wanted to ask if you could help 
me with my senior project. I am planning to build a Laptop data-logger for 
my car's ecu.  Plans are to create a real-time, if possible, monitoring 
system.  I can do the coding part but I lack info on how to integrate 
hardware and software to achieve my goals.  I have taken Digital electronics 
so I have the basic ideas of circuitry down.  Your projects seem like a 
great place for me to learn a great deal on.  I was hoping you may be able 
to head me out into the right direction on how to proceed.  I already have 
the factory manual for my 87 Supra's ECU with the pin-out diagram.  I am now 
researching on how to collect data either from ECU or the sensors themselves 
and display them on a computer.  Thank you for your time,
