Lee,

I worked on the original Cruise Missile [ALCM] program over 25 years ago =
and the Stealth Bomber [B2] over 15 years. The are both RadHard =
[Radiation Hardened] designed.

The Cruise Missile was designed to fly through an even [nuclear event] =
and the B2 powers down the electronics until the event is over. Two =
methods, similar outcomes. The B2 uses an nuclear event detector that =
triggers when the fastest particle of an event reaches the box. The =
power supply then crowbars.

It sounds like the event detector is more in your budget.

Component/Reliability Engineer for over 20 years on DOD projects.

  hello!
I am looking for general information concerning 'hardening' a 2002 =
Jeep and 1999 F-150 to protect ignition / efi and other systems from =
electromagnetic pulse. . Kind of a strange project,I know. I am involved =
in federal disaster response, and the subject of ensuring vehicle =
operation after a disaster event is starting to be seriously looked at =
in some circles. If you have time please e-mail any reference titles you =
might encounter concerning protecting vehicle electronics from =
electromagnetic pulse.
Thank you, Lee Miller constable at att.net
