Well, a TPS is not going to tell you much about engine
load, although it will deliver excellent throttle
response in most cases.

TPS tells you very little about engine load,
especially in something like a small aircract, I
should think.  MAF would be ideal, and MAP should be
plenty sufficient.  I'm sure as a pilot you are well
aware that you can get the same rpm at the same
airspeed with different throttle positions and prop
angles.

No ya don't.  ;)  You could make a table for prop
angle, and measure it using a pot on the pitch
control...  Or you could add a MAF or MAP sensor and
use that...  The combination of a MAP and a TPS shoudl
tell you everything you need to know, I think.
