[Diy_efi] Pulse width meter

My understanding is that some of the 80's-90's turbo Mopars (Daytona's and
LeBaron's in particular) had this capability. One of the little electronic
gizmos that were optional back then included what is called the "traveler"
(trip computer). This was a multi-function computer thingy that would track
trip time, miles driven, ETA, total time driven, instantaneous and average
fuel economy, time/date, etc. I was told that by pushing the right series
of buttons, you could check injector duty cycle, which you could then use
for pulse-width. The only problem I see with it is that *I THINK* they were
shipped out with specific codes for the body they were installed in. That
means one from a Turbo I New Yorker would be calibrated slightly differently
from a Turbo II Daytona or a VNT LeBaron.

I have all the FSM's and diagnostic books from the dealer, but I haven't
noticed a discussion of this feature. I also haven't looked very hard,
since it's not something that would be easily-adaptable to any other vehicle
I have, given Chrysler's tendency to make things difficult for
tuners/tweakers.

too many variables to base it on PW... Would have to input RPM, MPH,
Pressure etc...
best to use a flow meter (on a returnless system... on a return system, need
2 flow meters, one for incoming, one for return to subtract that volume),
and MPH

Has anyone ever used a pulse width meter to provide information for a gas
mileage/fuel used/trip computer?

Chris
