There is a device (Can't think of the official name for it right now)  
consisting of a light bulb with a non-continuous filament and special inert-gas  
filling. One of these placed in series with your "round-the-plug" wire and  
grounded at one end, the other sensor wire end also grounded should indicate by  
flashing whether there is a continuous wire in the sensor. The Spark current  
passing through the spark plug wire should induce current in the  sensor.
