[Diy_efi] oil press.

Essentially, there are 2 components: 1st is the
sensor, 2nd is the indicator.

The sensor is simply a pressure sensitive variable
resistor to ground (gennerally high resistance = 0psi,
low resistance = max psi), and the indicator is a
calibrated current meeter.

Therefore, a micro/milli ampmeter w/ it's + terminal
connected to ign+ and in series w/ a calibration
resistor in series w/ the sensor which is connected to
ground will work. Adjust the calibration resistor so
that the meter deflects to 1/2 to 2/3 scale w/ max
good oil pressure, and you'll see it drop at idle to I
suspect 1/3 to 1/2 scale, then you have a system. It
is not necessary to know the exact psi in your case,
as much as knowing it's good today, and have an
idication of impending disaster before it becomes a
China Syndrome!

Good luck, simple ohm's law will help determine the
values of resistor, which should not be greater than
the value of 0psi resistance of the sender, more
critical is the guage should match the sendor.

If all this sounds complicated, then 40 coin sounds
cheap to me, also I drove a VW for 5 years w/ a faulty
oil sender by using a mechanical guage, ran a small
ptfe tube from a T on the sendor to a small guage
under the dash, when the factory sendor failed, it
caused a buzzer to sound, so I glanced at the
mechanical guage to verify if it was a real or false.
BTW, replaced every component in the circuitry on that
car 3 times, never could cure it, but always had
pressure. Cost of the mechanical guage was ~15 coins
US.
