OBD II is musch more complex then the basic engine managment stuff, the fuel
tank, exhaust system, misfire sensing are way to comples to dismiss in a
conversion into an older platform.

My Vortech, (A L31 Engine) has a Edelbrock 3505 TBI to PFI conversion, (see
Edelbrock.com). The top is based on the Edelbrock 3502 TBI to PFi package.
this uses all the original 1990 sensors supplied with the origninal L05 5.7l
engine. This includes the distributor and 1227747 ECM.

You may also elect to modify a early style intake to fit the new bolt
pattern.

Judjing from some of the comments on the list, people may be unaware of all
of the "Vortec" motors. All truck motors are now know as "Vortech". The 5.7l
is the L31 and is used in 99 Tahoe's and Suburban's as a base option. In
total I think there are 6 or 7 truck motors in MY99.

This is simalr to the confusion about the different L05 5.7l engine
manufactured 87 - 95, they come in two types, standatd duty and heavy duty.
The HD version is found in trucks over 8500 GVW, (upper end C/K2500 and
C/K3500's). The HD motor is down about 20 HP due to lower compression ratio
etc.
