'98 Vortec 350 - Good swap into a Jeep?

In the 1996 model year (trux):

5700 vortec introduced.
7400 vortec introduced (later than 5.7L).

In 1999 model year (trux):

The new small-block (LS1) vortec engines are
introduced (4.8L?, 5.3L, 6.0L).  The 7400 still exists
in 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks.
