Its actually a sound idea.  Just have to remember that the area of a circle
increases exponentially as the diameter increases, so you have to calculate the
area in square mm or inches from the old housing to the new housing, and you'll
a small increase in diameter results in a lot of more flow.  If the MAF is
post-turbo or post-supercharger, make sure you fabricate a screen of some sort
to protect the MAF element.  MAF's don't like flying debris.
