There are advantages to the other ALDL modes, mode 3 is the any eight
address's mode, a good way to get rapid RAM data while testing.

Mode 2 is a 64 byte at a time dump, I wrote a program that dumps the
complete memory block in about 2 minutes with out having to pull the ECM, et
al.

Mode 4 allows you to alter some specific param's such as spark advance etc.


Mode 10 will reset error codes.

Special modes allow for re-programming flash memory
