Hi,
   Sorry John,  the side ports are common, this is where the pressure is,
the bypass out the bottom is when the fuel pressure pushes up on the
diaphram and releases/bypasses the pressure....the boost/vacuum port changes
the pressures as it is above the diaphram.  hth's
