Why not a private news server?

Eventually the private news server would get some spam, just a very
limited amount. The f-body group used to get spam 1-2 times a week
before they implemted having a valid eamil address to suscribe and
having a valid email address to post. We would need to advertise the
lists somewhere and someone would find out about it, and they would
eventually send some spam. So we would need to have a
username/password combo to make things resaonbably secure.
