Ok folks - lets say you wanted to do some mix and match with heads and
manifolds on small block chevy's and are too cheap to spend 150 bucks on the
right manifold, or 400 on heads. How do you make them go together - what
have people actually had luck with.
Option 1 - B&M - now holley - used to sell some aluminum shims and long bolts
to make up for the angle difference. Supposedly you just reversed the shims
depending on which way you wanted to go (and probably hogged out the manifold
holes) - has anyone used these, know cost or PN?
Option 2 - epoxy the holes in the heads and have a machine shop put in new
ones at the proper angle - how much?
Option 3 epoxy all the holes and goober everything up with RTV silicone (big
chance for leaks)
What works, what have you done, etc. - someone on the howell list was asking
the same questions - specifically to put a tbi man on an older engine. I
would be more interested in going the other way - tbi heads with old manifold.
Thanks for listening to my electroyappin!
