what is an "emulator"?

An eprom emulator is what I assume you are referring to. Basically, it allows you to make
program/calibration changes w/o removing and erasing/burning a new eprom each time. You plug a
PC/laptop into the emulator, which in turn plugs in where the eprom would normally go. Then you
make changes with the software that came with the eumlator.

Works pretty good and saves a lot of time.
