 I use the lathe and a cutoff tool.  You can use a Dremel and the little
abrasive cutoff wheels too; use a vise to hold the plug and hold the
Dremel with one hand bracing the other.  Sometimes the cutoff wheels
will dig in funny and get spit out in odd directions.
