Most DIS systems I've seen have power with the key on. Depending on the year 
and model, sometimes they don't fire the coils. Most of them do. If the crank 
sensor goes directly to the module, then you'll get fire. As far as the no 
start situation, do you have a check engine light? If not, then you're not 
going to start. ]
