LT5 DIS was Re: How does a DIS

I am not sure that I am completely falowing you here (or we are talking
different languages, which is completely possible). I was not looking @ the
module @ all other than to figure out where it was. what I was looking @
was just the coil pack & the plate/holder that they sit on. this just looks
like a holder for the coils. where as the 6 cyl dis assy (GN etc) looks as
if the module & the holder are built into one.

if someone were to want to build a V8 DIS (as I am) I need a way to hold all
the coils. this seems to be the way & I can not imagine that this holder is
that expensive, even @ dealer prices. I am sure as the other gent mentioned
the module is rather expensive, but w/o the rest of the LT5 harness, ECM &
the other module next to the head lamp, I bet that it does not do you any
good.

which brings me back around to my home grown DIS (on hold @ the moment,
whilst I install the new converter for an attack on the track), I think that
I have the "module" done for my DIS (both waste spark & CNP) I just have to
prove it out & ensure that I am not on crack. but w/o some way to hold the
waste spark coils I am looking for some other units (RX7 or something).

Sorry, so now I have to ask, are any of the GM Waste spark coils "smart
coils"? if they are then cool, if not then I have to work on a driver,
probably something like the bosche units.

Hose down the engine? what do you mean.

Sorry to be so long winded, I appreciate the help.

So far the problem has not been the part no., but the price. As mentioned
in a
prior post, expect to pay over $400 per module.

Now if someone could come up with a way to use 2 four cylinder modules, we'd
have
scores of cheap parts available for 8 cyl DIS.

The second 8 injectors share pulse widths with the primary injectors. When
the ecm
determines the secondary injectors are needed, an injector driver box is
used.

And don't ever hose down the engine in your ZR1! The module do not take
kindly to
water immersion. : )
