You are correct. I was not clear in my earlier post.

I consider the Skoggins-Dickey manifold a custom manifold, as is the
Stealth Ram from Holley. Both of these manifolds uses a non stock throttle
body, and relocates the throttle body as well. This approach doesn't allow
for the stock or stock location fresh air intakes to be used, and
definitely result in a non stock appearance once completed. For those
using a forced air induction system (super charger/turbo charger) that was
designed around the stock throttle body location, they too would not be
able to "upgrade" to either of these manifolds and still be able to use the
blower hardware they have purchased for the stock application. This is why
I grouped these manifolds into the "custom manifold" category. The only
path I know of using basically GM issue components, has the stock TB
location, and allows for the balance of the stock or stock location L31
intake components to be utilized is the marine intake.

Also, the correct link for Affordable Fuel Injection Company requires
hyphens. Below (I hope) is the functioning link. They too offer a
manifold with external injectors, but by my definition above, this too is a
custom manifold set-up, and very pricey. In fact, all of these are very
spendy solutions and would likely double the cost of a simple rebuild of an
existing high milage L31 motor.

However, the spendy solutions are readily available, the marine manifolds
are not (or at least, I have not locates a source for these yet).

Hope this helps.

is one interesting exception to this.

Not exactly. Scoggin-Dickey has been marketing a Vortec-compatible TPI
upgrade base for years, and Holley has just released a Vortec version of
their StealthRam which has already proven itself as being a great PFI/SFI
intake on the gen I motors. Both of these use "standard" PFI fuel
injectors, and can be made to work with the newer style "small-body"
injectors used on the LS1 cars and 5.3/6.0 trucks without much trouble.
