VSS and running off of ecm

Dumb fingers hit delete instead of send, but there was a comment
about running off the ecm's 5v.  Well, I did that several times, and
introduced a hiccup into things.  Was using the 5v for tampering
with MAP v's.  Since I really don't have a clear understanding,
about such things, and one lister said to never do that it seems
logical for me to follow that.  For a buck or even 3 it's cheaper than 
a $50 ecm, least to me.
