Want to Read Mercury Buss or Diognotic port

I have been off list for several years so I don't know how things have
progressed.

I have bought a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquee and I would like to access the
diagnostic port. I have looked at the Auto Tap and the hardware is polled by
the software running on a laptop and the interfacing command are
proprietary. I would like to find a device that could set up to send
messages from periodically without being polled or a device that the
commands are documented.

I would also be interested in an inexpensive node with an RS232 that
connects to the buss with a Motorola CPU if possible but I will take what I
can get.

I am also interested in the same device for other makes of cars.

My immediate wants are personal I have generated some interested in a
wireless device that tracks, monitors  and protects vehicles from theft. I
have the wireless tracking device on the shelf all I need is a interface to
the vehicle.
