Caution - Water Injection

I had a heated conversation last years with one of California's more popular
Porsche mechanics. He was dead set against it and would not consider it has
any merits. He had seen too many engines blown by Hydrolock from water
injections systems.

I have a 15 year old Edelbrock water injector still new in its box. I will
be putting it on my non-turbo Porsche 944 eventually but I will rethink
where to put the spray nozzle. The valves should be uphill from the spray
and it should drain somehow. Whether they siphon water when the engine is
off or the cut off circuitry fails, it is easy to see how you could get a
cylinder full of water. Try to start the engine. Bang! Hydrolocked and a rod
comes flying through the case.

Just wanted to pass this along that injector placement can be tricky.
