Buy a vehicle with mechanical diesel fuel injection! The only sure thing.
The EMP you’re worried about might even fry the starter circuit on that...

Realistically, if Sadam lofts one and sets it off in outer space you’re
right that it could take out a large portion of the country electrically
(several states or more) and we’d be just fine physically. The factories
have some EMP protection built in already to handle the usual noise in a car
’s electrical system but I doubt if any of us can really add greatly to the
protection of a typical F-150 for the strength of EMP you’d get for the
‘big one’.

Probably a bunch of stuff on the net if you do a search. I’d be skeptical
of wrapping anything in tinfoil. I know the military spends big $$ to solve
that problem. Our solution when I was younger was to fly a jet older than
yourself, mechanical fuel control works great when the ‘trons’ are confused.

Good luck with your research.

Subject: [Diy_efi] DIY-EFI References : EMP hardening

hello!
I am looking for general information concerning 'hardening' a 2002 Jeep
and 1999 F-150 to protect ignition / efi and other systems from
electromagnetic pulse. . Kind of a strange project,I know. I am involved in
federal disaster response, and the subject of ensuring vehicle operation
after a disaster event is starting to be seriously looked at in some
circles. If you have time please e-mail any reference titles you might
encounter concerning protecting vehicle electronics from electromagnetic
pulse.
Thank you, Lee Miller constable at att.net <mailto:constable at att.net>
