>From what I understand the classic "anti-lag" systems used a
solenoid/similar device to let air into the engine, but instead of
cutting fuel to some cylinders, it put a lot of retard on the timing,
the exhaust gas was very hot and having so much retard didn't cause the
engine to accelerate. The open throttle and presence of exhaust gas
spooled up the turbo(s) nicely.

There are dangers to this, of course. The exhaust is so hot most
standard steels won't take it for long. Risk of mis-firing is pretty
high too if I recall correctly.

Hope this helps

I have been thinking further about this for getting some boost when at
standstill.

I wondered about the possibility of a solenoid to open the throttle to
create some revs, cut the fuel to some of the cylinders and use the non
firing cylinders as an air pump.

The Methanol / Water should hopefully ignite from the cylinder(s) that
are
functioning normally and the oxygen that is now in the exhaust manifold
will
burn enough to boost the turbo.

Ohio, I agree with your post about leaving the WI firing into the
exhaust
manifold until reasonable boost is present when you can switch to normal
WI.
