[Diy_efi] ESC needed without knock sensor?

Hi guys, new to the list.  Here's the quick and dirty
then my question.

Project: GM 4.3L TBI install onto Toyota I-6.  ECM
747, HEI ignition module used with Toy dist.

I'm not using a knock sensor.  I also don't have an
ESC module connected.  Without the ESC module
connected is there some circuit that is now incomplete
that the ECM is not controlling timing? Do I need an
ESC without a knock sensor.

Checked the list archives but didn't see these
specific questions answered.
