730 ECM Swap

re: FWIW: great!

I'm thinking I (personally) preffer the junkyard version of the black and
yellow harness connectors since they come with wires attached - I'd have to
source the correct pins, tool, and some multicolored 600 degree wire if I
went with the bare connector. The 24/32 is a must for me though. I'll
sendya a M.O. if you want to grab an extra. (oops, I dont want to start a
"mee too" thread so maybe forget it)

You ask a good question. to answer, YES they are needed, and an extractor
and a crimper ($). The tool ($) I've seen Mike-D use and the pins I've
crimped myself onto a prototype are great for the bare 24/32's terminals
connecting to the other ends of the harness connectors. I've only seen Mike
use junkyard connectors (2 units made) so no experience with using NEW metal
harness terminals in the case of the ECM connectors. I used them for RS-232
/ custom cables at work and they are a PITA. YES the harness connectors need
the wires extracted and re-inserted - this and the soldering of all the
24/32 terminals makes the monster a piece of time consuming work - not
something you'd part with after going thru all the steps. (I only had to do
SOME of mine and I feel that way)

cool beans - anxious to get it all together.
