heads are back on - made some runs and tuning
Well, - I have put everything back together on my truck, and set my
mechanical timing (brown wire unplugged) to 8 BTDC. I went around the block
to make sure everything still worked and no funny noises and nothing leaked
and parked it. I re-burned my chip with the factory timing tables
(bjym102.bin). My fuel tables are basically stock. I went for a run and WOT
was great, but I got a lot of choogling over TC lockup and high map. I did
not get this with lots of timing before. I added some fuel from 1200-2000
and over 80kpa and got rid of most of it. In this range I am now getting
integrators of 137-141, so I am still a little lean. I was also getting lean
backfires until closed loop, so I lowered the open loop AFRs some. I ran
again and WOT was again great, and nicer open loop with less jerk. Tomorrow
I will change oil, as I am sure it is nasty, although I didn't see any
chocolate milk.
>From my experience, you can clean up the cold running and prevent backfires
by adding timing, but after the head gasket fiasco I don't really want to go
that course. If I do it by adding fuel (which my int numbers would seem to
indicate) I am going to get really crappy gas mileage. Although I don't
spend much time at 1100 rpm, 40mph and 90kpa.
What say the lot of you?
Thanks for listening to my electroyappin!
