Testing 808 w/o engine/car -- was cooked VN

Wes,

Conect the +ve wires to the battery and all earth conections to -ve, find 
the igntion wire on the relay and connect it to positive, you will need to 
make a test light out of a led and a resistor I think 800 ohms approx from 
memery should be fine, then conect it up as a test light see wiring diagram. 
  Then invoke the test mode by shorting the terminals in the diagnostic 
link(forgotten the colors) and if every thing tests fine you should get a 12 
that is one flash 1 sec gap followed by 2 flashes and repeated 3 times.  If 
this works out ok I would suggest your ecu is fine
