-> did a poor mans degree-in and it came up dead on. They missed the 0.1
-> oil squirters to the timing chain too,

 Squirters?  On a V8?  Six cylinders had them, but I've never seen a V8
with one.


-> and the oil pan grooves, and

 Yeah, some of the older pans are too shallow to handle a 3.75" stroke.
Found that out with a '66 El Camino and a 383...


-> the cam clearance to the rod bolts

 That can be a real pain in the tail if you're using a very large cam.
I've never had a ground-for-clearance rod fail, but those aftermarket
