Should check the shop manual, varies some by application.

Yeppers,   just like any engine it has a sweet spot for timing and AFR

Ya know,  I have never paid a wit to cells, inna MAP system.   If you know
the K/Pa, and rpm then you know where you are, table wise.

NO, just your improving on things.
Some folks think a 1,200 rpm choke speed is fine,   I find it criminal.
Different strokes for different folks.

Think of this way.  The less corrections the ecm is making the closer the
engine's operation is, to what your foot is doing.   Once you have the fuel
and tming right and start getting anal about what good is and tinker with
the IAC stuff it will become clearer about what does whom
